In-person English training in Bangkok is better than online English training in many ways, but what about cost differences?

The assumption that the cost of online training should automatically be lower than in-person training doesn’t necessarily hold up, especially in the context of premium “corporate communication skills training in English” that is provided by ECSC Thailand.

Here are several factors to consider that explain why online and in-person/onsite training costs should be the same, despite the difference in delivery method:

1. Instructor Time is the Same

The most significant cost in both online and in-person English training in Bangkok is the instructor’s time. Whether they’re teaching online or in person, the instructor still has to dedicate the same amount of time, effort, and expertise to the lesson delivery. The medium of the delivery (online or in person) doesn’t reduce the value of that time.

2. Planning, Preparation, and Personalization

In both delivery mediums, the preparation needed for lessons, materials, and personalizing the content to the students’ needs remains largely the same. The mode of delivery doesn’t affect how much time the teacher spends thinking about lessons prior to delivery and adjusting future plans based on progress and feedback.

3. High-Quality Online Training Still Requires Investment

Technology and Tools: To deliver high-quality online lessons, trainers often need to invest in reliable tech tools, platforms, and subscriptions (Zoom, interactive whiteboards, specialized software, etc.). Plus, they may need better hardware, such as cameras, mics, or fast internet to maintain a professional standard.

Interactive Materials: Online classes often involve creating or sourcing interactive materials, digital resources, and possibly even licensing costs for software. These are ongoing costs for online trainers that might not be necessary for in-person teaching.

4. Perception of Value

Some clients may believe online lessons should be cheaper because they don’t require physical space, travel, or location-related overhead. However, from a trainer’s perspective, the convenience of online classes doesn’t mean they should reduce the cost of their expertise. The value of the lesson remains tied to the trainer’s skills, not the location.

5. Flexibility and Availability

Online training allows for more flexible scheduling, which could lead to better availability of instructors. However, this flexibility might actually add value, allowing clients to schedule lessons more easily. It doesn’t reduce the intrinsic value of the instruction.

6. Perceived Engagement and Effectiveness

Some clients feel that in-person training is more engaging or effective due to face-to-face interaction and physical presence, and they may be willing to pay a premium for that perceived added value.

But it doesn’t mean online training is inherently less effective or valuable. If the instructor provides the same level of personalized support, engagement, and effectiveness online, the cost should reflect the same value regardless of medium.

7. Branding and Positioning

ECSC Thailand is positioned as a higher-end provider in the corporate training market in Thailand, emphasizing quality. So whether we deliver training online or in person, we are delivering high-quality services tailored to our clients’ specific needs.

This justifies maintaining consistent pricing across formats. Our customers are paying for results, not just the medium of delivery.

Conclusion

In essence, the value of the trainer’s time, their expertise, and the quality of the lesson remain constant whether the session is online or in-person English training in Bangkok.

Unless there are significant cost savings that can be passed on (e.g., if you’re eliminating substantial travel or overhead expenses), there’s no reason to assume online training should cost less than in-person training.

If the results and quality of instruction are comparable, then the pricing should be too.
