Client Needs
The two employees selected for personalized 1-on-1 training could already communicate effectively in English. Their challenge was not a lack of basic English knowledge.
They needed to become more fluent, confident, and professionally effective when using English in real business situations.
This was particularly important when interacting with international clients. They needed to explain proposals, describe services, discuss technical information, and build relationships through business networking.
- Participant #1: Needed to present payroll service proposals, discuss fees, and network with clients in the UK, Europe, Latin America, and India.
- Participant #2: Needed to simplify and explain technical and legal information, including Thai tax law and the Labor Protection Act, and present software-related payroll solutions clearly to clients in India and Singapore.

How “English Plus” Helped
ECSC’s English Plus approach combines English communication development with the professional soft skills that are mediated through language.
Rather than treating English as an academic subject, the training focused on helping the participants perform specific communication tasks more effectively in English.
The development broadly followed the three areas of ECSC’s Language, Delivery and Demeanor (LDD) framework:
- Language: Practical vocabulary, expressions, sentence chunks, and professional phrasing relevant to payroll, legal, proposal, and networking situations.
- Delivery: Structuring explanations, signposting, pacing, simplifying complex information, and presenting ideas clearly.
- Demeanor: Developing the confidence and professional composure needed to communicate effectively with international clients.
Training was highly practical. Role-plays, simulations, mock presentations, and unscripted conversations allowed participants to repeatedly practice the situations they actually encountered at work.

Results & Impact
Both participants began applying the language and communication techniques developed during training directly in their work.
- Participant #1 demonstrated clearer and more effective proposal presentations, improved pacing and signposting, and strong retention of the vocabulary developed during training.

Conclusion
Business English confidence does not come simply from learning more English.
It develops when professionals repeatedly use the English they already know, expand the language available to them, and learn how to communicate with greater clarity, confidence, and professional effectiveness.
That is the principle behind ECSC Thailand’s English Plus approach.
By developing Language, Delivery and Demeanor together, English training becomes more than language learning. It becomes professional communication development that can translate directly into better workplace performance.
